When something about your child's development worries you, the best time to act is now. Addis Ability offers therapy for babies and children - shaped around your child's unique needs.

Pediatric Rehabilitation

Child-Friendly, Play-Based & Fear-Free Therapy

Physical therapy should feel like a welcoming space for your childโ€”never intimidating or overwhelming. Our care is designed to be joyful, engaging, and fear-free, surrounding your child with a safe, trusting environment where they feel inspired to explore, move, and build true self-confidence. For children, play is the most natural way to learn and grow. By using play as the heart of therapy, your child builds movement, strength, coordination, and communication skills in a motivating, happy atmosphere.

Because formal pediatric physical therapy specialization is not yet established in Ethiopia, our clinical staff train continuously alongside international experts. This commitment ensures your family receives evidence-based, compassionate care tailored to your child from diagnosis onward, or whenever you first notice a need.

Evidence-Based Support for Your Child and Family

What does evidence-based care mean?

You may hear us talk about evidence-based practice. Simply put, this means that we do not use a treatment just because it is familiar, popular, or has always been done that way.

We combine the best available research and professional knowledge with what we learn from you and your child โ€” your child's individual strengths, needs, interests, goals, and everyday environment.

There is no single approach that works for every child. Our aim is to understand what matters to your child and family and choose strategies that are meaningful, practical, and supported by evidence.

Our services include:

  • Pediatric Physiotherapy: Supporting your child's movement, mobility, posture, balance, and gross motor development through activities that are meaningful and motivating.
  • Adaptive Play: Using play to support your child's learning, exploration, creativity, movement, and active participation โ€” adapting activities so your child can join in and succeed.
  • Functional Communication Support: Supporting your child's ability to communicate, express needs and choices, interact with others, and participate in everyday activities.
  • Occupational Therapy: Supporting your child's independence, sensory-motor development, play, and participation in everyday activities at home, school, and in the community.
  • Family Coaching & Caregiver Education: Helping you understand your child's development and build the confidence and practical skills to support your child in everyday life. Our approach incorporates elements of COPCAยฎ (COPing with and CARing for Infants with Special Needs) and recognizes parents and caregivers as central to their child's development.
  • Postural Management & Positioning: Developing practical 24-hour positioning strategies, seating solutions, and pressure care to support comfort, function, participation, and the prevention of secondary complications.
  • Orthotic Tuning (AFO / ASO): Supporting the appropriate use and adjustment of ankle-foot and ankle support orthoses, together with gait training, to help optimize your child's movement and walking.
  • Feeding, Handling & Daily Care Support: Teaching you practical and safe ways to position, transfer, handle, and support your child during everyday routines.
  • Individualized Home Programs: Giving you realistic strategies and activities that can become part of your family's everyday routines โ€” rather than adding another long list of exercises to your day.
  • Assistive Device Integration: Helping you choose, set up, and use walkers, crutches, and other mobility aids safely and effectively in the places where your child actually lives, learns, and plays.
  • Counseling & Psychosocial Support: Providing a safe space to understand your child's diagnosis or developmental needs, ask questions, discuss concerns, and find ways to support your child's and family's well-being.

Evidence-based does not mean one-size-fits-all. It means that we use the best knowledge available, apply our professional expertise, listen to you and your child, and work together to find what is most useful and meaningful for your family.

Did You Know?

You don't need a diagnosis to ask for support.

Not every child has a clear diagnosis from the beginning, and you don't have to wait for one if something doesn't feel quite right. Perhaps you have unanswered questions, have noticed some differences or delays in your child's development, or simply feel that your child could benefit from some extra support.

You don't have to figure it out on your own. We are here to help.

We offer consultations, professional advice, second opinions, referrals when needed, and practical strategies to support your child at home, at school, and in everyday life.

Sometimes, having someone listen, take a closer look, and help you understand what your child needs is the first important step.
